Crops of wild fowers are one of my most favourite things to find on a walk and over recent years, in a bid to provide more food for the pollinating species like our Bumble Bees, they are now much more commonly found in towns and cities. Little clusters of flowers with bright pops of colour scattered all over our urban areas. It is so pretty and you can’t help but be drawn to the bright natural colours.
It was during a walk in South Queensferry, on a beautiful September day, that I found a cluster of perfect Poppy seed heads in one of these wild flower meadows. Views of the Firth of Forth with the iconic red Forth Rail bridge as a backdrop to a vibrant pop of colours. I picked just one and scattered the seeds all around the small meadow. This little dried seed head gave me the inspiration for my Poppy charm, cast in solid sterling silver, a firm reminder of a wonder place, with happy memories, where I once lived.
The poppy charm measures 8mm x 15mm (28mm with the bail) and weighs 5.2g. I love this charm on a skinny, 2.5mm bangle, where it sways and twirls, rotating its way around the full circle. Total weight of the bangle and charm is 16.2g.
