Description
Handmade chain is a bit of a big love of mine. From deciding on the shape and form of each link to executing the entire chain, I just love the whole process. The first time I made a paperclip chain I was hooked and it sold really quickly on facebook. Since then I have played around with lots of different links but never revisited the paperclip.
This necklace is extra chunky because the links are doubled up. Each paperclip link is handmade out of 1.5mm thick, solid sterling silver, round wire. The links are approximately 25mm in length and 10mm in width, but because they are handmade there are slight variations in some of the sizes….the beauty of handmade. Each pair of paperclip links are joined together by a handmade, 1.5mm thick, solid sterling silver jumpring.
The centrepiece is the heart. An open heart made out of 3mm thick solid sterling silver round wire that I then bashed flat with Thor (my mega hammer), which added a bit of rustic texture to the surface I left on. The heart measures 33mm in length and 30mm in width and rotates freely in the jumprings holding it in place and attaching it to the paperclip chain.
The necklace closure is a handmade hook, made out of 1.8mm thick solid sterling silver round wire. It hooks through a larger circle link making it easy to put on and take off.
There are 44 paperclip links in total and the chain length is 23″ on its own and 24″ with the hook closure. The total length of the piece, with the heart included is just over 25″. Total weight of the piece is 54.8g.
Hallmarked in Edinburgh.
There is only one of these and it is ready to post.
The Paperclip Heart Necklace will arrive in a Silverpickle box, tied with ribbon and includes a silver polishing cloth.
