Description
This Ethiopian Opal was purchased at a gem show in May 2025. I sort of chose it for myself, as a treat, but I have just not done anything with it and it sits looking at me, on my bench, every day. It is such a shame that it is not being enjoyed so, I decided to make a simple ring with it and hope it finds its perfect home.
Ethiopian Opal is hydrophane, meaning it absorbs moisture. Water will turn the Opal transluscent and remove its magical play of colour. This oval Opal is 12mm x 8mm in size and the base pink/orange colour has flashes of blue and green through it, changing in different lights.
The ring is made from a solid sterling silver rectangular profile wire measuring 3mm wide and 2mm thick and it has been sparkle textured. The Opal has been set in a handmade sterling silver rubover setting.
UK size Q.
Hallmarked in Edinburgh.
Only one available in a UK size Q. This ring will arrive in a Silverpickle gift box, tied with ribbon and includes a little polishing cloth.
**Because this Opal is Hydrophane I recommend that it should not be worn in water. This includes any kind of swimming, showering/bathing, washing dishes etc. **
