My heart belongs in the Highlands.
Wax carving is now my favourite passtime, most loved on a summer evening in the garden. Sometimes I sit with a bit of wax and carve away until there is almost nothing left, no wax and no worries.
The open heart form appears in a lot of my pieces, from earrings to bangle charms, and I wanted to create a pendant that had a bit of an ‘organic’ look to it to add to my heart pendant range. Wax carved and left with carving marks this open heart has a rustic feel and a lovely weight to it. I took a bag of these cast hearts up north, on our holiday to the Highlands, and lovingly filed and sanded them down for polishing. I figured it was only right this heart was named after that trip and my absolute love of the Highlands.
I decided to add the bail to the top to keep it in place on the chain, rather than the chain going through the heart, and I think it really adds to the piece. The heart measures 17mm x 2omm and its total weight is 4.9g making it the perfect pendant. The chain is a Trace Chain and you can choose your required length in the drop down box. Polished finish.
