I spend a lot of time melting silver in the workshop.  I save up all my sterling silver off cuts and these are melted into pebbles for stud earrings and charms.  Sometimes, as I am watching the metal change shape and become molten, I see shapes and ideas appearing.  Occasionally I take these ideas and try them out.

Two lengths of 1.8mm thick solid sterling silver wire shaped into a curve and then melted together.  The metal shrinks and and moves to a point where there is lots of texture and I lift the heat off.  I love the unique texture on these huggie hoops and, although I experimented with oxidising them, they just look wonderful in their full shimmery polished silver glory.  Each hoop measures approximately 12mm in diameter, so they sit fairly snug on the lobe, and weighs 1.7g meaning it is not heavy and pulling the lobe downwards.  A post is soldered to the top and a butterfly/scroll holds the hoop in place on the ear.  Perfect for every day wear.
